  • Nice weekend

Posted on March 7th, 2010 tomcat No comments

Had a nice weekend, sorted out cables, wires and a mess, made room for a Radio, TNC and PSU and am now running a digilink RF to iNet to help out the APRS dead spot in west London thanks to Steve M0BPQ for sorting it all out and the loan of the necessary equipment…

The new car a few months back got a nail in the tyre, now the new tyre has got a nail in that so looks like another £150 bill coming up….

This is Reggie our 16 year old who was put to sleep today, he had not been well for several months and was getting very thin, today he was taken to the vets and was found to have kidney failure so the kindest thing to do was to put him to rest.

Such a nice friendly cat will be missed.

  • Back to work!

Posted on January 17th, 2010 tomcat No comments

Done me first week back at work, all 3 days of it as agency work after Christmas is a bit in short supply but at least I did something and the same again next week…

Also did my first Saturday in ages, jeez I think every f**king idiot was out on the road… “Look here comes a big truck lets change direction at the last moment” some eastern european prat while talking on his mobile phone decides he wants to take the turn off at the last minute, so regardless of what’s coming pull’s across all three lanes and nearly causes a huge accident, not just with me but the several cars that were forced to break to avoid hitting him….

  • Weather Warning for London!!

Posted on January 5th, 2010 tomcat No comments

    Just seen this weather warning…..

    Very Heavy Snowfall 2000 Tue 5 1100 Wed 6
There is a high risk of an extreme weather event affecting parts of Southern England this evening and overnight. A period of exceptionally heavy snowfall is expected with accumulations of 15-30 cm and perhaps in excess of 40 cm. This is expected to cause widespread disruption to the transport network and could lead to problems with power supplies.

The public are advised to take extreme care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

My First post for 2010 and it’s a cold one, down to -5c and a severe frost….

A visit from Robin and Ma Yan yesterday and met the new family addition the lovely Ammie what a cutie…. was great to see them again

Playing with a new app on the iphone called iBCNU (I’ll be seeing you) it’s an aprs tracker as used by us amateur radio nerds to track our movements when we’re out and about, it had a few teething problems but version 1.7 seems to have cured this you can visit the site here. or check my movements by going here (The aprs speed police need not bother)

Just about got over my cold/flu which I had over the new year so time for playing on the computer, seems the radio side of things here has taken a back seat for the time being….

  • More snow..

Posted on December 22nd, 2009 tomcat No comments

Last Thursday night when out driving it was pretty bad, heavy snow fell on my journey from Swindon to Basingstoke and again the weekend just gone we had more snow and last night more came down and I was stuck for two hours on the A406 near Brent cross… it seemed that the rain we had earlier washed off the salt from the roads then the snow fell and settled and turned to compacted ice and caused havoc specially to the west of London M3 and M4 corridors were badly affected (where I was last week) this week (for all three days) I am travelling to Ipswich which once out of London I had clear road’s…. let hope its better tonight…
